Pedal power brings the Library to you
Books on Bikes brings our Library services to community events around Seattle. Using pedal power and customized bicycle trailers, our Library staff members visit local neighborhoods and bring the Library right to you.
About Books on Bikes
With Books on Bikes you can:
- Sign up for a Library card.
- Find out about free Library programs in your neighborhood, including story times for children and adults.
- Learn how to download e-books, music and more to your smartphone, tablet or e-reader.
- Tell us what you like (and do not like) to read. Then we will email you Your Next 5 Books.
- Discover how to access Library magazines on your device.
Did You Know?
- We started Books on Bikes in May 2013.
- There are 14 Library staff members on our Books on Bikes team.
- Books on Bikes has three bike trailers that travel around Seattle.
- The original trailer, designed and built by Colin Stevens of Haulin' Colin in Seattle, displays books and other materials on built-in shelves.
- The fleet also includes two compact flat-top trailers that are decorated with hand-painted designs by Seattle artist Eroyn Franklin.
