Eulalie and Carlo Scandiuzzi Writers' Room
The Eulalie and Carlo Scandiuzzi Writers' Room is located on Spiral 9 of the Central Library. It was established to give writers easy access to our collections and a convenient place to work.
Writers' Room Residency
The Writers’ Room is a shared writing space on Level 9 of the Central Library. Access is via key code, and is available only to the 20 writers selected for a six-month residency. The Writers’ Room is a beautiful, contemporary light-filled space with large windows looking southwest. There are six writing desks, each with an adjustable chair, light, and outlet. There is no ceiling on the room, and ambient noise and occasional conversations from Level 10 can be heard in the space; many of our participating writers bring headphones. Cell phone conversations are not allowed in the room.
Access to the room is through a secure door on Level 9, which can be accessed by elevator, escalator, ramp, or stairs. The closest restroom and water fountain is down two floors on Level 7 (accessible via stairs, elevator, or ramp). Covered beverages are allowed in the Writers’ Room, but food is not allowed.
Writers' Room Residency Application
The Writer's Room application process is currently closed. We will contact those who applied and re-open submissions once we know when the space will reopen. Thank you for your patience.
