Library Closed Thursday, Nov. 23
All locations of The Seattle Public Library and the book drops at the Central Library will be closed on Thanksgiving, Thursday, Nov. 23.
Patrons of The Seattle Public Library can now place up to 50 items on hold
Patrons of The Seattle Public Library can now place twice as many holds on Library materials - up to 50 items at a time.
Patrons use the holds service to reserve books, CDs or DVDs that either are checked out to someone else or are checked in at another Library location. When patrons put a hold on an item, they can also direct it to be sent to a more convenient Library pick-up location.
The increase in number of holds is one of several improvements brought about by approval by Seattle voters of the Library levy. Other benefits of the levy passage include:
- Increased hours: All locations of the Library are now open on Sundays.
- More books and materials: More copies of popular materials will be available, which should reduce wait times for materials.
- Computer upgrades.
- Improved building maintenance.
"It is clear that citizens in our community want their libraries open and the shelves filled," said City Librarian Marcellus Turner. "We are excited to serve the public with improved resources and services."
